Welcome back to day 5.
Now that you have your little guys in the flowering room vegging up for the next two weeks or so it is time to take a break for a little bit. You really do not have to do much for the next couple weeks as you have done a lot so far. You have your flower room and your vegetative room set up right now. You have clones getting bigger in your veg room, which will soon turn into mothers, and you have a batch you are preparing to flip into flower in your flower room. All you have to do in the next couple weeks is monitor your temperature in your flowering room and a couple other things I will talk about shortly.
In order to get the right hookups to that window and get fresh air coming in the window, going through the 1000watt light, and go back out the window, as well as have the A/C connection going out the window, you will need to work on it. One thing that has worked in the past has been to open the window 100% of the way. Now, take a large piece of wood and nail the large piece, like a 4×4 or so, or larger all the way around the window. Cut 3 holes in the wood in the shapes of the matching ducting size. And, with your own creativity, make it work. Have fun with it. This is an important step. Your temperature in your flowering room must be in the 70′s, and preferably, between 70-75. In the night it can be as low as 60, it doesn’t matter.
For the next couple weeks after this has been taken care of take a breather. Relax, you have done a lot so far. Putting together those mylar tents is tough, they are heavy! Eventually, you won’t have to put any tents together, because you will be growing in big fat rooms that will be entirely converted.
Remember, don’t tell anyone what you are doing. It will be hard. But secrecy is your only alibi, as the moment people know what you are doing and where you are growing the code to your vault has been given away. You must not tell a soul. Since you put so much sweat, time, and money into the operation and it is probably looking good by this time, naturally you want to show it off to your friends and what not. But if you want to succeed you must resist this urge.
At this time when you have some down time as nothing is really happening other than the normal feeding every couple days to each veg and flower room, turn your attention to this aspect.
Go to the hydroponic store and buy about (50) 5 foot long stakes. Also buy a green twisty tie thing. Go into your flowering room which is preparing your plants. Insert one of the stakes at a slanted angle in one of the pot plants. Take one of the large tops of one of the plants and bend it all the way over so that it is parallel with the ground level. Take a snip of a twisty tie and tie it down to the stake. Do this all around that plant with about 6-8 stakes, and do this to every plant. You should have to do this about 40 times in total. Now, the height of the plants is much shorter as you have bended every main top of the plant to the side and now all of the smaller branches will begin to grow new tops.
Besides this, clean up all the bottom stuff. Everything below 1.5 feet of all of this remove it all, and remove as much as you can. Google “super-cropping” for more information on this.
Master growers do this because it will send all of the energy to the top colas, and maximize the yield and quality of your plants flowers without having to have more plants. Also, when it comes time to trim, your nugs will be 10 grams each hopefully and you can trim a pound in 1 hour compared to 8 hours of you have many tiny 1/4 gram nugs. As well, the value of larger, denser nuts is greater as the public has voted that is what they want.
As well, having more plants is a liability, as you cannot have over 99 plants at all or else you will be facing felony charges if caught. That is a federal rule. So, you want to get as much of a yield with less than 99 plants. You could yield bout 1/4 pound or more per plant with 6 plants under (1) 1000 watt light, and if you really wanted to you could yield 1 1/2 pound per plant with (1) 1000 watt light and a large enough plant.
So moral of the story you want to super crop every crop you have that you put into flower. with stakes, or trellis nets, or whatever floats your boat. Research this stuff on Google and watch GrowerMD’s videos to find out more about this stuff.
One final word, don’t tell anyone! And also remember to pay your electric bill. Feed the nutrients to the plant every feeding. If they are yellowing, feed them more. If the tips are burning, feed them less. Keep the light 1.5 feet away from the plants in the veg and flower room, and watch them grow healthy.
